Unlike the rest of us, Madonna has a direct line to the man who can supposedly get into any country he wants. As she so eloquently put it, “You are the only one of us who cannot be denied entry.” The message was clear: open the humanitarian gates and save the children who are facing severe malnutrition and starvation.
This isn’t the first time the Queen of Pop has used her platform to speak out about the war. She’s made impassioned speeches on stage, urging fans to bring “light and love” into the world. It’s a sentiment that, while lovely, probably hasn’t been as effective as, you know, getting the Pope involved.

The plea from Madonna comes as other artists are also making their voices heard. U2 frontman Bono, along with his bandmates, released a statement to their fans about where they stand on the matter. While condemning the actions of both Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Hamas, Bono stated that the band stands “in solidarity with the people of Palestine who truly seek a path to peace and coexistence with Israel.” He added that they also “stand in solidarity with the remaining hostages and plead that someone rational negotiate their release.”
It seems the entertainment world is trying to use its influence to bring some sort of resolution to the conflict. Whether a pop star’s social media post or a rock band’s statement can move the needle on a global crisis remains to be seen.
