It seems the federal agents in Minneapolis have been busy again, and by busy, I mean providing more work for the local coroners. Bystander video has just surfaced showing the moments before Alex Pretti, a 37 year old local man, was killed by immigration officers. Because everyone has a smartphone these days, the whole messy confrontation was caught from multiple angles. This makes it much harder for the authorities to stick to a single, tidy story.
Naturally, the people in charge cannot agree on what actually happened. Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem is claiming the agents fired “defensive shots” because Pretti allegedly “reacted violently.” On the other side of the fence, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz is calling the federal version of events “nonsense” and “lies.” It is the classic he-said, she-said, but with more bullets and significantly higher stakes.
A Pattern of “Accidents”
If this feels like a repeat, that is because it almost is. Alex Pretti’s death comes less than three weeks after an immigration agent shot and killed Renee Good, another American citizen, in the same city. Minneapolis is quickly becoming the capital of federal “oops” moments.

The city is currently on edge, and these videos are only adding fuel to the fire. What Happens Next?
The Department of Justice is supposedly looking into it, but don’t hold your breath for a quick answer. Governor Walz is demanding that the feds pack their bags and leave his capital, while the Trump administration insists they are just doing their jobs “smarter.” If this is the smart version, I would hate to see the alternative.
Expect more protests, more shouting matches between politicians, and probably a few more “leaked” videos that contradict the official press releases.
