Rihanna and A$AP Rocky just turned the Smurf blue carpet into a full-on fashion moment and yes, it was as iconic as it sounds.
The couple touched down in Brussels on June 28 for the global premiere of the new Smurfs movie, and let’s just say… Papa Smurf could never. The event took place right in the heart of Smurf central (seriously, there’s a Smurf museum nearby), and Rihanna wasn’t just there as a guest she’s producing the film and voicing the one and only Smurfette. A true multitasking queen.
In a nod to her animated alter ego, Rih stepped out in a dreamy baby blue ensemble that felt like couture straight out of a Smurf fantasy. The outfit a celadon green silk chiffon top and skirt shimmered with crystals, feathers, and porcelain sequins, and was just sheer enough to give fans a glimpse of her growing baby bump. That’s right, Rihanna and A$AP are expecting baby number three. The Fenty mogul and her rapper beau already share two boys, RZA and Riot Rose, and if this premiere proved anything, it’s that Baby #3 is about to be born into some seriously fashionable chaos.
Rocky, never one to be outdone, brought his own twist to the blue carpet. He wore a half-tucked striped button-up (very “I woke up stylish”), a rainbow striped tie, oversized blue trousers, and the kind of all-black sunglasses that say “yes, I’m cool enough to pull this off.”
On the carpet, Rihanna lit up when talking about the film, calling it “hilarious,” “fun,” and “nostalgic.” “The Smurfs always made me happy,” she said. “Every girl wanted to be Smurfette. So it’s surreal to be here, playing her and right here in the Smurfs’ hometown!”
She also reflected on what it means to bring the iconic blue crew to a new generation: “Even as a mom, Smurfs was a huge part of my childhood. And now my kids get to experience that joy, too. That’s the real magic.”
Between voicing a childhood icon, expanding her family, and casually slaying red (or blue) carpets, Rihanna’s having a Smurf-tastic summer and we’re just lucky to watch.
