In the latest episode of “Trump Tries Health,” former President Donald Trump now says he’s personally convinced Coca-Cola to switch back to real cane sugar in its U.S. products because clearly, he’s the arbiter of national nutrition.
Taking to Truth Social (the platform for folks who think Twitter was too mainstream), Trump declared:
“I have been speaking to Coca-Cola about using REAL Cane Sugar in Coke in the United States, and they have agreed to do so. This will be a very good move by them You’ll see. It’s just better!”
Yes, really. No word on whether this revelation came before or after his morning Diet Coke, which he famously had delivered via a special button on the Resolute Desk. (Because nothing says “fit for leadership” like ringing for soda on demand.)
Now, let’s be clear: Coke hasn’t actually confirmed any big recipe revolution. A Coca-Cola spokesperson simply said they “appreciate President Trump’s enthusiasm” which is corporate-speak for “Please stop tagging us.”
Still, Trump insists this sugary shake-up is happening, no doubt inspired by his Health Secretary and anti-everything crusader Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who’s been banging the drum against corn syrup, seed oils, and pretty much every food that isn’t air or avocado. His “Make America Healthy Again” campaign is aimed at tossing out artificial dyes, processed ingredients, and apparently flavour.
Kennedy, who looks like he reads ingredients lists the way most people read crime novels, has made it a mission to clean up America’s diet. And apparently, Trump is listening between golf swings and Big Macs.
For context, most American Coke is sweetened with high-fructose corn syrup (the cheap, sweet stuff that also powers your average gas station donut). Meanwhile, countries like Mexico and the UK still use cane sugar which has become a cult favorite for soda snobs, hipsters, and people who swear it “just tastes cleaner.”
And it might be happening. In April, Coke CEO James Quincey told investors they’re making “progress on sugar reduction” and hinted at “innovative offerings” which could mean anything from stevia-infused lemon fizz to cane sugar nostalgia drops. Who knows?
But back to Trump a man who downs Diet Coke like it’s a medical requirement. He’s pushing real sugar for the masses while sipping aspartame like a diet soda connoisseur with a golden buzzer. The irony is so thick you could pour it over pancakes.
So will American Coke go all-natural sweet like the rest of the world? Maybe. Maybe not. But one thing’s for sure: if it does, Trump will definitely take credit. Probably while sitting under a gold chandelier, nursing his 13th Diet Coke of the day.
