Hennessey’s journey began at Wolverhampton Wanderers, where he made his professional debut in 2006. Early loan spells at clubs such as Stockport County, Yeovil Town, and Bristol City gave him valuable first team minutes before he established himself at Wolves and later moved on to Crystal Palace, Burnley, and finally Nottingham Forest.
At Palace, where he spent seven seasons, Hennessey made 132 appearances and kept 37 clean sheets, serving as a reliable figure between the posts before eventually slipping behind Vicente Guaita and Jack Butland in the pecking order. His departure in 2021 was part of a wider goalkeeper reshuffle at the club, which also saw Remi Matthews arrive and Stephen Henderson move on.
Despite falling out of favour in his final Premier League years, Hennessey remained a valued figure within the Wales setup.
