A quiet commute turned into a tragedy on Thursday in North Zealand, Denmark. Passengers, students, and workers boarded their morning trains between Hillerød and Kagerup, expecting a routine trip to start their day. At roughly 06:29 local time, two trains collided head on in a wooded area. The impact left five people in critical condition and thirteen others with injuries. Emergency services acted with incredible speed. They rushed to the scene to assist the thirty seven passengers on board. Medical teams then flew the most seriously injured patients to the National Hospital in Copenhagen.
