Someone in Cork is waking up a multi-millionaire, after scooping a jaw-dropping €250 million EuroMillions jackpot and their winning ticket was bought at a local shop in the heart of the city.
The Irish National Lottery confirmed that the golden ticket was sold at Clifford’s Centra on Shandon Street, and that the lucky winner has already made contact (though they’ve wisely chosen to stay anonymous… for now).
Shop owner Ted Clifford told RTÉ there was a “great buzz” in the area as word spread. “I’ve no idea who it is,” he said, but that hasn’t stopped the excitement from building.
This isn’t the first time Clifford’s Centra has struck gold. Ted revealed the shop also sold a €100,000 winning ticket on New Year’s Eve, calling it the start of their “winning streak”.
“I send my warmest congratulations to the winner and their family,” Ted said. “Hopefully they’ll have good fortune with the money.”
Meanwhile, his team are planning a well earned celebration of their own and who could blame them?
