Not on a podium, not even on the grid – no, Hamilton made his Ferrari debut with a motivational post on LinkedIn. That’s right. He’s not easing into retirement mode. Far from it. Hamilton says he “could not be more excited” to begin his stint at Scuderia Ferrari, and with the scarlet suit already tailored, he’s leaning all the way in. The man posted a throwback karting photo with a red helmet like it was destiny. Ferrari-red was clearly in his blood before he ever set foot in Maranello.
“Reinvention is powerful,” he wrote, channelling a TED Talk while simultaneously preparing to race at 300 km/h. Say what you want, but this is peak Hamilton spiritual, strategic, and extremely stylish.
And it’s not like he’s joining just any old Ferrari outfit. The prancing horse ended 2024 breathing down McLaren’s neck for the Constructors’ crown, with Charles Leclerc outscoring everyone in the second half of the season. Now Hamilton joins forces with Leclerc to create what might be the most high-octane driver pairing in years. Two title-hungry alphas in the same garage? That’s not just spicy, that’s full Neapolitan fire.
Behind the scenes, Hamilton’s already diving into prep mode simulator sessions, 2023 car runouts, and plenty of espresso-fuelled meetings with engineers who live and breathe carbon fibre. The real curtain-raiser will be the car launch on 19 February, followed closely by pre-season testing in Bahrain. It’s a crash course in scarlet schooling, and he’s got about six weeks to cram.
Ferrari team boss Fred Vasseur isn’t sweating the transition. “He’s not the rookie of the year,” he quipped a diplomatic way of saying, “We know he’s a handful, but he’s our handful now.” And honestly, who wouldn’t take a seven-time champion with a grudge and a point to prove?
