Stefano Domenicali has officially extended his reign at the helm of Formula 1, inking a fresh five year deal that keeps him in charge until the end of 2029.
The Italian, who once called the shots at Ferrari and later led Lamborghini, has been steering F1’s commercial and global expansion since 2021. Under his watch, the sport has soared to new heights and it looks like there’s no slowing down.
Announced just ahead of lights out in Melbourne for the 2025 season opener, the deal reflects the confidence Formula 1 has in Domenicali’s leadership. A statement from F1 hailed his “transformational” impact and the continued growth of the sport’s global reach.
For Domenicali, who’s been around racing since he was a boy and later led Ferrari to their last constructors’ title back in 2008, it’s more than just a job. “It’s an honour to keep leading a sport I’ve loved my whole life,” he said. “The fans drive everything we do — their passion is what fuels me every single day.”
Before taking over from Chase Carey, Domenicali had already left his mark in both the paddock and the boardroom, and this latest contract signals that F1 believes he’s the man to keep the momentum going well into the decade.
